Direct to Implant versus 2-Stage Expander Implant Immediate Breast Reconstruction: Comparison of Incidence and Predictors of Complications

Purpose: The most important discussion about the direct-to-implant (DTI) reconstruction is risk of ischemic problems. Therefore, there an ongoing debate effectiveness and reliability DTI reconstruction. current study aimed to compare outcomes patients undergoing expander implant (EI) determine factors that may affect occurrence complications.
 Methods: Sixty who underwent immediate over a two-year period were included in study. Demographic characteristics, operative characteristics postoperative complications retrieved retrospectively from patient records. 
 Results: Reconstruction was performed on 34 27 breasts EI groups, respectively. mean follow-up 13.8 months (range 6–28 months). Although complication rates high group, no statistically significant difference found between two groups (p = 0.585). No terms failure 0.579). Implant volumes with group significantly higher than those without 0.049).
 Conclusion: While similar failure, overall volume factor affects development reliable method can achieve results fewer surgical procedures suitably selected patients.
